Unfold is our first collection in seven years, and in many ways, it represents everything I wanted Aijek's return to be about.
When I began thinking about designing again, I knew I didn’t want to simply pick up where I had left off. My relationship with fashion had changed, and so had the way I thought about materials, craftsmanship and the people behind the clothes we wear.
I wanted Unfold to feel like a new beginning—while still feeling unmistakably Aijek.
The story of the lotus
The lotus became the starting point for the collection.
Growing from muddy waters before rising to the surface and blooming, it has long symbolised renewal and new beginnings. Its seeds can remain dormant for hundreds of years before growing again, which felt especially meaningful to me after seven years away from Aijek.
Throughout Unfold, the lotus appears in different stages, from bud to full bloom, translated into original motifs across dresses and separates.
Reimagining Aijek’s lace
Lace has always been part of Aijek’s identity, but this time I wanted to reinterpret it in a way that reflected where the brand is today.
We found that expression through Kerawang, a centuries-old cutwork embroidery technique practised by skilled artisans in Bali. Each motif is drawn, embroidered and carefully cut by hand to reveal delicate, lace-like openwork.
I love that you can see and feel the human hand in every piece. That connection between maker and wearer is something I want to bring greater meaning to in this new chapter.
A more considered approach
For Unfold, we’ve chosen to work with plant-based fibres including 100% cotton, linen and ramie, selected for their natural feel, breathability and comfort against the skin.
The silhouettes feel freer too—moving between flowing and form-fitting, in a palette inspired by nature: moss green, sky blue, petal red, cloud pink and pure white.
More than anything, Unfold is about beginning again with greater intention—carrying forward what has always made Aijek special, while allowing it to evolve into something new.
